Michigan Wine Month
We are well underway into a chilly month of May as Michigan Wine Month rolls forward in innovative ways for 2020. During the existing COVID-19 stay-at-home order currently in place in Michigan, participating Michigan wineries are offering virtual wine tasting events and remote sales opportunities to reach consumers. Michigan wineries continue to showcase award-winning wines especially from varietals that thrive well this far north such as Riesling and Pinot Noir among others.
Through May 19, we are promoting some offerings from Chateau Grand Traverse’s “Grand Traverse Select” line of wines. Specifically, for $7.99/bottle we are selling their Sweet Traverse Red, Semidry Riesling, and Sweet Harvest Riesling. Chateau Grand Traverse winery located on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan has been making wine since 1974 and has won numerous awards and accolades. Grand Traverse Select Sweet Traverse Red
This is a very fruity style sweet red blend made from a Merlot, Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir and Pinot Meunier. It’s definitely a customer favorite here for those that enjoy an easy drinking, sweet red wine on any occasion. The wine shows its best when served slightly chilled.
Grand Traverse Select Semidry Riesling
This is slightly sweet white with flavors of pear, apple and lemon. A light and refreshing Riesling that when chilled pairs well with lighter salads and can be enjoyed on sunny day in May!
Grand Traverse Select Sweet Harvest Riesling
This sweet white wine shows off with notes of honeyed melons and a little bit of apricot. This would pair nicely with pork, poultry and lighter fare. This style of Riesling is very popular and many customers order this wine by the case!
