Drink Recipes for Cinco De Mayo
It’s Cinco De Mayo, and it’s time to bring on the parties and parades and get your feet tapping to a little Mexican folk dancing. Come on! You can do it! It’s a celebration!
Cinco De Mayo is celebrated every 5th of May, nationwide in the United States and regionally in Mexico, to observe the Battle of Puebla, during which the Mexican Army claimed victory with French forces in 1862. Although it’s neither a federal holiday in Mexico nor the United States, it’s a great excuse for a party.
And what’s a party without some delicious sangria? I whipped up this recipe a couple of years ago, and I cannot get enough of it.
New Age Sangria Recipe
Wash the skins of all fruit first.
1 Lemon-Halve and then quarter each half. Squeeze fruit into a pitcher; drop in fruit as a garnish.
2 Orange-Cut into 4, and then squeeze into pitcher; drop in fruit as a garnish.
½ Cup Blueberries-Put in plastic bag and crush to break skins and release juice; add to pitcher.
½ Cup Strawberries-Cut into small pieces; add to pitcher.
½ Cup Raspberries-Add to pitcher.
1 Bottle of New Age Rose-Make chilled.
Pour into a glass with ice.
We cannot celebrate Cinco De Mayo without a delicious margarita to start the festivities. Here is one of my favorites:
Frozen Mango Margarita
2 oz. Mango juice
2 oz. Tequila
4 TBSP. Lime juice
2 TBSP. Mango syrup
Place all the main ingredients in an electric mixer. Half-fill with ice cubes and mix until you have a sorbet-like consistency. Pour into a margarita glass, and garnish with star fruit.
Here at Nino’s, we have a great selection of Mexican beers, tequila, and pre-made sangrias for your special Cinco De Mayo celebration.
I hope you found this helpful.
Have fun and stay thirsty!
